An extremely unusual and very kitsch set of Victorian salad servers. They would have originally been part of a set to include a salad bowl. These are a fabulous and most unusual Victorian lobster design produced c. 1890 by James Dixon and Sons of Sheffield.
I'm not sure what the lobster part is made from, probably bakelite as they seem very robust. The remarkable servers feature a lobster claw design as the handles and are Sheffield Silver Plate, the hallmark/maker’s mark for James Dixon and Sons is visible on the handles.
The servers measure approx. 28cm long. There is a little wear which is commensurate with an item of 120 years or so.
A rare and extremely unusual addition for a dinner party table which would certainly be a talking point.
