Two little vintage purple or amethyst coloured potion bottles in the shape of a ball and claw. These very unusual bottles originate from Taiwan from the 1960’s and are extremely rare in the UK.
The larger of the two bottles measures 3¼ inches (approx. 8cm) and appears to be handmade. The smaller bottle measures 2” (approx. 5.5cm). There are distortions to the glass and the bottles are slightly wonky. The glass is shaped as a ball at the bottom and four talons clasp the ball from the neck.
I understand these originally contained bitters of some sort. There is a little cork in the larger bottle which is very well secured in the bottle and I haven’t attempted to pull it out. The smaller bottle has no cork. rim. The words ‘Ball and Claw Bitters’ is marked on the side of both bottles and made in Taiwan is marked on the bottom of the smaller one.
Two rare and very collectable bottles.
