A magnificent entomology study paperweight of a large brown tarantula.
This is a superb specimen of a brown spider of the tarantula family. Having done a little research into tarantulas, I believe this may be a goliath tarantula from its appearance, although if it is, it is probably an adolescent as goliaths can measure up to 12 inches, so this is quite small. Even so, by any standards this one is HUGE! Measuring the spider within its confines across the diagonal, this superb arachnid measures 12cm.
The lucite container measures 13.5cm x 10.5cm x 3cm. This is a vintage item and has small scratches over the surface, but is in very good condition with no chips or cracks.
It is great to be able to examine the arachnid so closely and by using a magnifying glass you can make out its shiny eyes and the hairs on its legs.
A huge and stunning spider.
