What an unusual item of medical history this is! A complete set of ‘Sterilex’ horsehair sutures from a surgeons collection. The ligatures are still contained in the original glass tube complete with preserving liquid and the protective cardboard tube. The label states that these were manufactured on 17 March 1941 and this is batch number 776.
I haven’t tried to open the glass tube and I believe it is still as it was manufactured over 75 years ago.
The glass tube measures approx. 16.5cm x 2cm and the whole item is in excellent condition for its age.
