A beautiful small roe deer head with small antlers on a wooden mount from France. This gorgeous taxidermy piece has been beautifully worked making the head appear very natural and not at all contorted or misshapen as appears in some amateur taxidermy.
This piece is vintage, the tops of the ears have become slightly open and there is a small split to the bottom of the right ear where it meets the head. Although these are hardly noticeable, this has allowed some of the filling to fall out over the years which makes the piece have a hollow sound and some of the stuffing falls out if tipped. This does not detract from the beauty of this piece at all and is to be expected from vintage taxidermy pieces.
The deer is very handsome and appears to be young as the antlers are very short. This display would be perfect if you are short of space or have a smaller room as it measures only about 40cms from the top of the ears to the bottom of the mount.
A very good quality vintage taxidermy deer head perfect for a smaller space.
