A blue and white Chinese porcelain trinket box in a tear or kidney shape with scenes of an erotic nature hidden inside.
The exterior of the box has natural scenes of people, animals, mountains and houses. The top features small children innocently playing but when opened, the inside of the box is far from innocent!
On the underside of the lid a couple appear to be relaxing in a bedroom. On the inside of the base, a couple are in the midst of an erotic embrace.
The bottom bears a six-character Yongzheng mark painted in blue in Zhuanshu script. The seal script mark is of the Yongzheng Emperor (1723-1735), Qing Dynasty, which is pronounced Yung Cheng. I am not an expert on Chinese porcelain or marks, but I don’t believe this pot to be from that era considering the cleanliness of the piece.
The pot and lid are in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or marks. It measures approx. 12cm x 8cm x 4.5cm.
This is a rare piece of erotic art and I have seen nothing similar to it.
