A sturdy brass and glass hourglass or sand timer with a floral motif on each end and dating from around the 1970’s.
This time piece runs to four minutes (I timed it at 3 minutes 58.52 seconds) perhaps for meditation purposes or for a runny egg yolk?
This sturdy and robust timer is Oriental in origin as the floral motif suggests. It is made from heavy brass and the timer is made from glass and contains natural sand.
The timer stands at approx. 17cm tall and 8cm wide and is in good vintage condition with a few discoloration marks to the brass including two ‘pinkish’ patches on one and one rod. The glass is kept in place by rubber retainers. The end pieces are connected by three brass rods and secured with three balls which screw on to the ends.
A nice decorative and useful piece.
