When I first acquired this plate, I was amazed at the stunning detail and knew that this piece told a story. It took me a long while to research and put together the various images within the piece and therefore find the provenance of this remarkable plaque.
The various pictures depict moments in time and creates the story of the great city of Valencia in Spain.
This brass high relief plaque has such extraordinary detail, that it is a pleasure to spend time inspecting and analysing the different images within the piece. One of the most interesting parts for me was the surrounding frame which depicts four bats with open wings.
The piece measures approx. 19.5 x 14.5 x 2cm and is quite heavy at 225g which also reflects the quality of this impressive plate. It is in excellent vintage condition, although could do with a clean to make it brighter although the vintage patina is charming. The back shows some darker colouring and age-related wear. It has four little feet which allows it to sit perfectly on a flat surface.
A very unusual pin dish.
