A risqué little heart shaped pin dish dating from WWII.
The pin dish features a male and a female. The male appears to be an officer from the British army. He is in uniform and is holding a military swagger stick.
The woman or girl appears to be wearing Dutch national dress and is holding a bucket. There is also a windmill in the background which also suggests that the scene is based in the Netherlands.
Although the front of the dish appears quite normal, when the dish is turned round, the officer’s hand has raised the woman’s skirts and he is touching the woman’s bottom.
A completely inappropriate pin dish, quite offensive to contemporary ideas, but originating from an era where the subject matter was considered amusing.
