A stunning set of French oracle cards illustrated by James Hodges and produced by B P Grimaud for Playtex in 1971.
This beautiful and sensual deck of fortune telling cards is comprised of 36 cards with instructions, a spare blank card inside the box. There are four suits each containing nine cards: 6,7,8,9,10, A,D,V,R.
The illustrations on each card are absolutely stunning with a sense of eroticism which makes this set highly collectable and rare. Each card has two images and meanings depending on which way the card is drawn.
The cards and the instructions, which are in French, are in excellent condition and appear hardly ever to have been used. The box is slightly worn around the edges and there is a small tear to the upper edge. The side tabs on the upper and lower openings appear to have been removed. The cards measure approx. 9cm x 6cm.
The front of the box reads: ‘Le jeu de la beaute et du destin’ – The game of beauty and fate.
The back of the box reads: ‘sante, argent, amour, passe, present, avenir’ – health, money, love, past, present, future.
