Chinese Snuff Bottle with Lovers Scenes

A charming internally painted snuff bottle with two scenes of lovers undressing in traditional Chinese settings.

This Chinese snuff bottle has an unusual appearance unlike any I have seen before. The images have been painted as usual, but a gold paint has been added as a background to the images giving a beautiful golden lustre beneath the smoky grey glass.

The two scenes feature couples in a state of undress, supposedly in preparation for the main event!

The scent bottle measures just over 7.5 cm x 6cm x 3cm. The body of the bottle is made from glass, and it has a resin lid in a bright red colour. It is a vintage piece and has some small scratches and marks but nothing substantial.
