Brass Goblin Imp or Fairy Toasting Fork
An unusual little brass toasting fork featuring a mythical creature (perhaps a goblin, pixie, imp or fairy).
I haven’t been able to trace which creature this is exactly. It’s not the Dartmoor Pixie, nor is it the Lincoln Imp and I haven’t found another toasting fork like this, so I can’t name this curious creature.
The little creature has pointed ears and wings, he or she is naked, has one hand on their cheek as if thinking and is holding something in its left hand, possibly a lamp or a sack.
The toasting fork measures approx. 47cm and is made from brass. It hasn’t been polished as I think the vintage patina gives this little fork loads of charm. The stem or rod has an unusual dappled or rippled design. The teeth of the fork have been slightly bent over the years.
The ring at the top has a section missing. It doesn’t appear to be broken as the edges seem smooth and it does hang from the remaining loop, so perhaps this was part of the design.
Perfect for toasting your marshmallows.
