What an unusual find! An old photography film box holding numerous wax teeth.
I understand that part of a dentist’s training was to carve teeth out of wax to learn the different shapes of each type of tooth: molar, premolar, incisor and canine. Although I’m no expert, I believe the box contains three molars, two pre molars, two incisors and one canine.
Each tooth measures approx. 3cm. There are three broken teeth in the box: two incisors and one canine.
The box and handwriting would suggest that these carvings were carried out by a dental student in the early 20th century. The name on the box reads B. S. Morgan and it appears that they were in Group X.
A fascinating and curios little collection of wax teeth.
