A lovely pair of bovine bone, brass over copper opera glasses dating from the Edwardian period.
These antique glasses would have previously been gilded over the brass, but only a tiny bit of gilt remains in the nooks and crannies and now the remaining metal has a wonderful vintage patina.
There are two hairline cracks one on each barrel, but the bone is in good condition elsewhere. The metalwork has wear commensurate with its 100 years, and the copper base is showing through in some areas.
These are in full working order and would be suitable to take to the theatre or the opera today. Alternatively, they would make an attractive display piece.
Due to the complicated laws regarding the export of animal products, this item is only available for purchase in Europe.
