A very unusual little snuff or pill box for a chatelaine, necklace or pocket watch. This lovely container features beautiful slices of blue agate on the top and bottom with white metal sides.
The lid is hinged, and a clip keeps the box securely closed. There is a ring or loop on the back corner for attaching to a chain or ribbon.
This was probably a snuff box or a pill box designed to be worn on a chatelaine or as a fob for a pocket watch.
The box or locket is in excellent condition with minor scratches to the surface of the white metal commensurate with its age of about 100 years or so. The little pin which holds the hinge in place is slightly protruding out of one side and is a little sharp. With the appropriate tools this could be re-positioned. The box measures approx. 2.5 x 2.5 x 1.25cm.
This is really unusual little pendant, locket or box, and I haven’t seen anything quite like it.
