Antique Oriental Style Paper Tray with Lid

A stunning and extremely unusual Oriental style desk tray with lid.

This very unusual desk tidy dates from around 1900. It has a green background and is hand painted with an Oriental fishing scene in delightful deep colours with gold highlights and edging.

The box measures approx. 32cm x 25cm x 3.5cm and is made from a light wood. This interesting and very useable piece is in good condition with an aged patina and wear to the paint on the lid which gives the piece wonderful vintage charm. The bottom of the tray and the underside of the lid are both covered in felt which is slightly worn due to use and age.

This box, although antique, lends itself easily to modern use and A4 paper (as shown in the photos) fits nicely inside the tray.
